Get More Bang for Your Buck on Social Media
In order to get the most out of your business’ social media content, you need to know the rules of the game. You need to be prepared to behave strategically online if you want to see a return on your investment.
How do you do this? Well, one of the main ways is through engagement & content creation!
There is so much more to being on social media than just posting content and showing up on stories. With the “overpopulation” of social media platforms, your brand has to have a clear and intuitive strategy to make any progress on apps like Instagram.
Two big ways you can get more return on your investment in the realm of social media marketing are by creating your content in batches, and by engaging in an intentional way on the app. We are going to be starting with these two steps and eventually adding more!
Batching content & engaging properly can completely revolutionize the outcome of your social media marketing efforts. We see results on a monthly basis with our social media subscription clients, and have tons of data to show that these two steps can make a big difference!
We want to share a step-by-step guide on how to batch your content and effectively engage your audience on Instagram, so you can start seeing the return on your investment!
First, let’s define the term “Batching Content” so that we can all be on the same page.

Batching Your Content
This idea of batching your content is intended to help you create more, high quality content at one time and then use it over the course of the month rather than conjuring up posts randomly throughout the week while you’re thinking about something else.
One of the wise women in my life, Jess the owner of Lightly Social, explained it this way: batching content is like doing loads of laundry. You don’t wash, dry and fold one shirt at a time! You wash a whole load, dry a whole load, etc. Read her post on it here.
We can think about content creation the same exact way - and you should!!
If you have dealt with the anxiety and annoyance that comes from posting something online only to get a mediocre response from your audience, then you need to do this.
If you struggle with consistently showing up online with targeted content for your audience, then you need to do this.
Here’s a quick rundown of how to get started:
Fill up your content pillars. Don’t know what your content pillars are? Watch our 3 min. training video here and download your free worksheet here.
Set your SMART marketing & growth goals for social media specifically. Need help with SMART goals? Click here for more info!
Schedule time every 2 weeks/month/etc. to sit down for a block of time (we suggest 2-3 hours).
Using your goals for the month as a reference point, brainstorm a list of post ideas. Keep it broad here, and just write down as many ideas as you can think of. No details yet!
Add posts to your content calendar for the month / quarter. Need a template for this? Get our FREE one here.
Fill in the details. Now revisit the post ideas you’ve chosen to add to the calendar for this month and add in details. Things like copy ideas, CTAs, notes on the type of visual content you will need, etc.
Create the content. Finally, the fun part! ;) Using your handy dandy content creation apps like Canva, Illustrator, your photo and video editing app of choice, put together your visual content.
Now that you have your content batched, outlined, and created it is time to actually schedule your content and automate your posting. We recommend using an app to make this easier and more streamlined. Apps for content management also help you gather detailed insights and automate the posting process.
